Current Situation of AIDSAccording to UNAIDS 2009 report:some 60 million people have been infected with HIV / AIDS worldwide;some 25 million people have died of HIV-related causes; some 14 million children have been orphaned by the epidemic in sub-Saharan Africa. AIDS is a very serious disease caused by the HIV virus, which brings severe damage to the body immune system and destroy the body’s natural ability to fight infection.AIDS = Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (获得性免疫缺损综合症) What Is HIV?
