LiteratureReview:

SeveralstudieshaveexaminedtheuseofvocabularyandintermediatewordsinEnglishwritingbycollegestudents.Forexample,LiandXu(2013)investigatedtheerrorsmadebyChinesecollegestudentsinusingprepositionsintheirEnglishwritingandidentifiedcommonerrorssuchasmisuseofprepositions,omissionofprepositions,andinappropriatewordchoice.Similarly,Zhang(2014)foundthatcollegestudentsoftenmakeerrorsinusingintermediatesintheirEnglishwriting,particularlyinregardtoprepositions,conjunctions,andadverbs.

Methodology:

Toinvestigateintermediateworderrorsincollegestudents’Englishwriting,asampleof200essayswrittenbysecond-yearEnglishmajorsataChineseuniversitywillbecollected.Anerroranalysiswillbeconductedtoidentifythetypesandfrequencyofintermediateworderrorsmadebythestudents.Theessayswillbeanalyzedfortheuseofprepositions,conjunctions,andadverbs.Collecteddatawillbeanalyzedusingbothquantitativeandqualitativemethods.

ExpectedResults:
