TherearemanybarriersintradebetweenChinaandEU.Beyondacertainpointtheywillbeverytroublesomeandverydifficulttosolvethetradebarriers.AsolutiontothisistomakethetradebarriersreduceandcometrueasmoothunhinderedandhealthyChina-EUtraderelation.

ThoughtheEUenjoyedatradesurpluswithChinaatthebeginningofthe1980s,itisnowexperiencingasizeableandwideningtradedeficitwithChina.In2007thefigurewasUS$134billion.AlthoughalargeconsumermarketisdevelopinginChina,theEUstillexportsmoretothe7.5millionpeoplewholiveinSwitzerlandthantothe
1.3billionpeoplewholiveinChina.EuroperunsasurplusontradeinserviceswithChinaof€5.0billionin2009(upfrom€4.9billionin2008).Thisisabout27timessmallerthanitstradedeficitforgoods.Europestradedeficit(includingservices)in2009was€128billioneuros.Thetradedeficitisfocusedinofficeandtelecomequipment,textiles,andironandsteel.Intheeyesofprotectionists,thetradedeficitreflectsahugeshiftwithintheeconomiesofAsiatofocusproductioninChina.AlthoughimportsfromChi
