Grouptechnologyisasimpleconceptthatisusedwidelyinvarious

forms.Foravarietyofreasons,itislogicaltocollectandassociate

thingsbasedonfeaturesthattheyhaveincommon.Thisapproachis

familiartoeveryoneforplants,animals,andchemicals.Such

organizationalstructureshavealsobeenusedforhardwareandother

obviouslysimilarproductswithinthemanufacturingworld.Group

technologyrepresentsstructuredcategorizationofparticularvalueto

themanufacturingcommunity.Itisalreadywidelyused;perhaps50%of

manufacturingcompaniesusesomeformofGT.
