ThisstudyexploresthetranslationstrategiesofclothingandutensilsintheYangandDaisEnglishtranslationofDreamoftheRedChamberfromtheperspectiveofSkoposTheory.SkoposTheorypositsthattranslationactivitiesshouldbeguidedbythepurposeoftranslation.ByanalyzingexamplesofclothingandutensilsintheYangandDaistranslation,thisstudyrevealsthetranslatorschoicesandstrategiesunderdifferenttranslationrules.ThestudybeginswithanoverviewofthebasicviewpointsofSkoposTheoryandareviewofrelatedresearchontheEnglishtranslationofclothingandutensilsinChineseclassicalliterature.ItthendelvesintoananalysisofthetranslationpracticesofclothingandutensilsintheYangandDaistranslation,withaparticularfocusontranslationstrategiesunderthecoherencerule,fidelityrule,andSkoposrule.Thefindingsindicatethatwhilemaintainingtheculturalcharacteristicsoftheoriginaltext,thetranslatorsalsofocusontheacceptabilityofthetargetlanguagereaders.Thisstudynotonlyprovidestheoreticalsupportfortranslationpracticebutalsooffersanewperspectiveforcross-culturalcommunication.

本研究旨在探讨目的论视角下《红楼梦》杨戴译本中服饰器具的英译策略。目的论认为翻译活动应以翻译目的为导向，本研究通过分析杨戴译本中的服饰器具翻译实例，揭示了译者在不同翻译规则下的选择和策略。研究首先概述了目的论的基本观点，并回顾了中国古典文学中服饰器具英译的相关研究。接着，本文深入分析了杨戴译本中服饰器具的翻译实践，特别关注连贯性规则、忠实性规则和目的论规则下的翻译策略。研究发现，译者在保持原文文化特色的同时，也注重目标语言读者的接受度。本研究不仅为翻译实践提供了理论支持，也为跨文化交流提供了新的视角。
