：Thevariablestructuremultiple-modelestimationapproach(VSMM),oneofthemultiple-model

estimation(MM)approaches,ispopularinhandlingstateestimationproblemswithmodeuncertainties.Inthe

VSMMalgorithms,themodelsequencesetadaptation(MSA)playsakeyrole.TheMSAmethodsare

challengedinboththeoryandpracticeforthetargetmodesandtherealobservationerrordistributionsare

usuallyuncertaininpractice.Inthispaper,aGeometricalEntropy(GE)measureisproposedsothattheMSAis

achievedontheminimumGeometricalEntropy(MGE)principle.Consequently,theMGEMMframeworkis

proposed,andtwosuboptimalalgorithms,theparticlefilterk-meansminimumGeometricalEntropy

multiple-modelalgorithm(PF-KMGEMM)aswellastheparticlefilteradaptiveminimumGeometricalEntropy

multiple-modelalgorithm(PF-AMGEMM),areestablishedforpracticalapplications.Theproposedalgorithms

aretestedinthreemaneuveringtargettrackingscenarioswithmodeandobservationerrordistribution

uncertainties.Numericalsimulationshavedemonstratedthat,comparedtoseveralexistingalgorithms,theMGE

basedalgorithmscanachievemorerobustandaccurateestimationresults.
