Abstract

NewEnglishCurriculumStandardforSeniorHighSchool(2017)statesthatlanguage

skill,namelylistening,speaking,reading,viewing,andwritingisoneoftheelementsof

Englishcoursecontent.Writing,asawayoflanguageoutputwhichreflectsstudents’

comprehensivelanguageapplicationproficiency,isanimportantlanguageskill.However,

therearestillvariousproblemsinEnglishwritingteachingofseniorhighschoolatpresent.

Forexample,teacherslackeffectiveteachingmodel,studentsarenotinterestedinEnglish

writingclassanddonotactivelyparticipateinclass,andwritingqualityofstudentsisnot

high,etc.

In1998,HarmerfirstproposedESAteachingmodelinhisbookHowtoTeachEnglish.

ESAteachingmodelconsistsofthreebasicelements,whichareEngage,StudyandActivate.

Thesethreeelementscanbeflexiblycombinedintothreedifferenttypesofteachingsequence,

StraightArrowssequence,Boomerangsequence,andPatchworksequence.

BasedonanoverviewoftheoreticalbasesandrelatedresearchofESAteachingmodel,

thisstudyaimstoexploreinfluenceandimplicationsofESAteachingmodelonEnglish

writingteachingofseniorhighschool.Intheexperiment,thestudentsfromClass5andClass

6inGrade1ofBeijingFangshanExperimentalHighSchoolwereselectedastheresearch

subjects.Class5wasthecontrolclassandClass6wastheexperimentalclass.Theauthor
