Iwassurprised，“Five，howdidIgetfive？Iwasjustoutthereandnoonewasinthewaitingroom.”

“Well，therearefivesignedin.”

SoIwentstraightoutandcalledthefirstname.Fivebodiesshowedupatmyguidingdesk，apaleshortwomanandfoursmallchildreninuntidyclothing.

“Areyouallsick？”Iaskedsuspiciously.

“Yes，”shesaidweaklyandloweredherhead.

“Okay，”Ireplied，unconvinced，“Who’sfirst？”Onebyonetheysatdown，andIaskedtheusualbeginningquestions.Whenitcametothedescriptionsoftheirsymptoms，thingsgotalittlevague.Twoofthechildrenhadheadaches，buttheheadachesweren’taccompaniedbythenormalbodylanguageofholdingtheheadortryingtokeepitstill.Twochildrenhadearaches，butonlyonecouldtellmewhichearwasaffected.Themothercomplainedofacough，butseemedtoworktoproduceit.

Somethingwaswrongwiththepicture.Ourhospitalpolicy，however，wasnottoturnawayanypatient，sowewouldseethem.WhenIexplainedtothemotherthatitmightbealittlewhilebeforeadoctorsawher，becausetherewereseveralmorecriticalpatients，sheresponded，“Takeyourtime.It’swarmhereandthereisanatmosphereoftheNewYearforthattreewiththeNewYeargifts.”
