EuropeanAccommodationBarometerFall2023ExecutiveSummary01ExecutiveSummaryAHotSummerDespitethethreatofin?ationandacost-of-livingcrisisinmanycountriesworldwide,theresultsoftheFall2023EuropeanAccommodationBarometerfurtherbolstersoptimismamonghoteliersacrossthecontinent.Asawhole,thesummerof2023hasbeenaresoundingsuccess.Hoteliershaveseenyetanother6-monthperiodoutdothelast.Andforthe?rsttimesincetheBarometersurveybegan,themajorityofrespondentsnowexpecttheireconomicsituationtodeveloppositivelyoverthenext6months.Buildinguptothebestyeartodate!Intheprevioussurvey,heldbeforethesummerseason,weaskedoverathousandEuropeanhoteliersif2023wasgoingtobeayearofrecordrevenues:46%concurred.Thissentimentprovedprescient.InSeptember,Eurostatassessedtheactualperformanceofthesectorandcon?rmedthat,inthe?rsthalfof2023,thenumberofnightsspentinEuropeantouristaccommodationsreachedandexceededthepre-COVIDbenchmarkyear2019.Withregardtobusinessdevelopmentoverthepast6months,NordicbelowtheEuropeanaverageonmosteconomicmetricsbut,nevertheless,showsthemostimpressiveupwardtrendacrossall3waves.accommodationshavecomeoutontopwith8in10characterizingtheirsummerseasonasgoodorverygood–perhapsbene?tingfromtherevivalofdomestictravelandthoseholidaymakerseagertoavoidthesummer’sblazingheatwaves.Overthepast6months,62%ofEuropeanaccommodationbusinessesreportedanincreaseinroomrates,up11percentagepointsfromthepreviousperiod.Occupancylevelsalsocontinuedtheirskywardstrajectory,wit
