3.1Introduction
ThischapterclarifiesthebasicconfigurationofLNGinfrastructuretosupplygastopowerplantsandother
endusersbasedontheexperienceofJapanandothercountries.
ItisimportanttoshowthebasicstructureoftheLNGinfrastructure,includingrecentSSLNGstructures,
beforediscussingpotentialLNGsupplychaininfrastructuresinASEANandIndia.
3.2Methodology
3.2.1Scopeofthestudy
ThestudycoverstheLNGinfrastructuresfromLNG-receivingterminalstoendusers,elaboratingonthe
onemilemodesofdelivery,includingpipeline,rail,andlorry/truck.
3.2.2Literaturereview
TheJapaneseexperienceimpliedthatthechoiceoftransportationmodeforLNG/naturalgasisbasedon
threefactors:regionalgasdemand,distanceofdelivery,andquantitytobedelivered.
TheAgencyforNaturalResourcesandEnergyofJapan(2004)summarizedthetypicalchoiceof
transportationmodesdepartingfromaprimaryLNG-receivingterminal.Thisdocumentwasintensively
reviewedforthestudy.
3.2.3.Interviews
Interviewswereconductedwithaplantengineeringcompany,apipelinemanufacturingcompany,acity
gascompany,andatradingcompany.
3.3Results
Figure5showstheoverallconfigurationoftheLNGvaluechain.Theleft-handsideshowstheupperstream
ofthevaluechainandtheright-handsideillustratesthedownstream,extendedtotheconsumptionpoints.
