Overview

Thisdocumentprovidesinstructionsformitigationstepsyoucantaketopreventexposuretotheremotecodeexecution

vulnerability(CVE-2017-2750).TheseinstructionsapplytoHPEnterpriseprintersandmulti-functionprintersrunning

FutureSmartversion3andFutureSmartversion4.Configurethefollowingtwosettings:

•SettheLocalAdministratorpasswordfortheEmbeddedWebServer(EWS).Apasswordmustbeconfiguredbeforeaccessto

theSolutionInstallerispermitted.

•Disablethe“Allowfirmwareupdatessentasprintjobs(Port9100)”settingintheEWS.Thispreventssolutionpackagesfrom

beinguploadedthroughthefirmwareupdatemethod.

UsingtheEmbeddedWebServer(EWS)

Setthelocaladministratorpassword

ToallowaccesstotheSolutionInstaller,followthestepsbelowtosetthelocaladministratorpassword

fortheEmbeddedWebServer(EWS).

1.OpenawebbrowserandentertheprinterIPAddressorhostnameinthebrowseraddress

field.IfyoudonotknowwhattheIPAddressorhostnameis,askyouradministrator.
