Abstract:Today5scustomerstendtoselecteating-placesforsatisfyingpleasuresthroughexperientialsocialization.Thisstudyexploreshowcolor,lightinganddecorshaveeffectsoncustomers5perceivedsociability,emotionandbehaviouralintentiononsocialdiningoccasions.Experimentalmethodwasusedand162seniorstudentswereinvolved.Theresultsshowedthattherestaurantwithmonochromaticcolors,dimlightingandplaindecorsyieldedastatisticallysignificantdifferenceintheentiredependentvariableswithalmostanyotherinteriorconditionsonromanticdining,asopposedtothecaseofcasualdining.Furtherresearchonsubtleranddiversedimensionsofinteriorelementissuggestedtoenrichpreviousfindings.

1Introduction

Afterthepost-industrializationerathatwehavebeenthroughwherefoodsanddrinksareabundantandubiquitouslyoffered,consumermotivesofconsumptionhaveshiftedfrommeetingourbasicnutritionalneedstoamorepleasurableexperience(Machtet.al,2005).

Thedevelopmentofatmosphericeating-placeshasgainedmoreinterestsamongrestaurantownerstoattractcustomerswhoseekexceptionalandextraordinaryplacesforleisure(Scott,et.al,2009).Thistrendclearlyindicateshowcustomerscelebrateexperienceeconomy.Insucheconomicsituation,tourismorretailbusinessinvestorsarefocusingtheirattentiononinnovatingtheirgoodsandservicestryingtotransformthemintoexperienceproductsthatarememorabletocus
