TheTianheCoreCabinModule(CCM)provideslifesupportandlivingquartersforthreecrewmembersandprovidesguidance,navigation(导航)forthestation.Themodulealsoprovidesthestation’spowerandlifesupportsystem.Thestationisequippedwithasmallkitchenforfoodpreparationandthefirst-evermicrowaveoveninthespaceflight,sothatastronautscanalwayshavehotfoodwhenevertheyneed.120differenttypesoffood,selectedbasedonastronauts’preference,arestoredaboard.

China’sintentiontobuilditsownspacestationwasamplified(增强的)afterNASArefusedChinesparticipationinInternationalSpaceStationin2011.On22February2017,CMSAandItalianSpaceAgency(ASD)signedanagreementtocooperateonlong-termhumanspaceflightactivities.TheagreementholdsimportanceduetoItaly’sleadingpositioninthefieldofhumanspaceflightwithregardtothecreationanddevelopmentoftheInternationalSpaceStationanditshowsItaly’sincreasedexpectationinChina’sdevelopingspacestationprogram.Tiangongisalsoexpectedtohostexperimentsfrom
