similarobjectives,therearesomekeydifferencesbetween

thetwo.

Rohs(RestrictionofHazardousSubstances)

certificationisaEuropeanUniondirectivethatrestricts

theuseofcertainhazardoussubstancesinelectricaland

electronicequipment.Itaimstoreducetheenvironmental

impactoftheseproductsandprotecthumanhealth.The

directiverestrictstheuseofsubstancessuchaslead,

mercury,cadmium,hexavalentchromium,polybrominated

biphenyls(PBB),andpolybrominateddiphenylethers(PBDE)

inelectricalandelectronicequipment.

Ontheotherhand,REACH(Registration,Evaluation,

Authorization,andRestrictionofChemicals)isa

regulationimplementedbytheEuropeanChemicalsAgency

(ECHA)thataddressestheproductionanduseofchemical

substances.REACHrequirescompaniestoregisterand

provideinformationonthepropertiesandusesofchemical

substancestheymanufactureorimportintotheEU.Italso

aimstopromotethesafeuseofchemicalsandpreventtheir

adverseeffectsonhumanhealthandtheenvironment.

Fromanenvironmentalperspective,bothRohs

certificationandREACHstandardsplayacrucialrolein

reducingtheuseofhazardoussubstancesandpromoting

sustainablepractices.Byrestrictingtheuseofharmful

chemicalsinproducts,theseregulationscontributetothe

protectionofecosystemsandthepreservationofnatural

resources.Theyalsoencouragethedevelopmentanduseof

alternative,safermaterialsandmanufacturingprocesses.

Fromahealthperspective,RohscertificationandREACH

standardsareessentialforsafeguardinghumanwell-being.

Bylimitingthepresenceoftoxicsubstancesinproducts,

theseregulationshelppreventexposuretoharmful

chemicals,whichcanhave
