HappyTeachersDay;;PART01;;;;;;;PART02;;Teachers’Dayiscelebratedondifferentdatesindifferentcountriestoacknowledgethecontributionoftheteacherstotheirsociety.TheideaofcelebratingTeachers’Daytookrootinmanycountriesduringthe19thcentury;inmostcases,theycelebratealocaleducatororanimportantmilestoneineducation.Thisistheprimaryreasonwhycountriescelebratethisdayondifferentdates.;In1994,UNESCOproclaimedOctober5tobeWorldTeachers’Day.TheychoseOctober5becauseitwasonthisdayin1966thatasignificantstepwasmadeforteachers.AspecialintergovernmentalconferenceinParisadoptedtheILO/UNESCORecommendationconcerningtheStatusofTeachers.TheRecommendationestablishesstandardsregardingteachers’rights.Italsosetsstandardsforteachertraining,employment,andteachingandlearningconditions.NowmanycountriescelebrateWorldTeachers’Day,setupbyUNESCO,on5OctoberastheirTeachers’Day.;SinceTeachers’Dayisobservedondifferentdatesindifferentcountriesoftheworld,thecelebrationsalsovary.Inmanycountries,culturalprogramsareheld,whichmayincludesingingcompetitionsanddanceandplayperformances.Thestudentswouldofferflowers,greetingcardsandgiftstoshowaffectiontotheirfavouriteteachers.;InChina,therearesomeactivitiesforstudentstoshowtheirappreciationtoteachers,suchaspresentinggifts,includingcardsandflowers.Inaddition,manyformerstudentswillgobacktotheiroldprimaryschools,middleschoolsandhighschoolstogivepresentstotheiroldteachers.;ThegovernmentfirstproclaimedTeachers’Dayin1985,buthasneverclearlyexplainedwhyitshouldfallon10September.Somebelieveitisduetothesimilarpronunciationbetweentheword“teacher”(jiaoshi)andthetwonumbers9(jiu),10(shi)inthedate.Somepeoplebelieveitwasarandomchoiceandhaveproposedchangingitto28Septemb
