Abstract
Cross-bordere-commercehasbecomeafast-growingsectorinthe
globaleconomy,whichhasledtoanincreasingnumberof
professionalsworkinginthisfield.Thisstudyaimstoinvestigate
theEnglishlanguageproficiencyandapplicationskillsofcross-
bordere-commercepractitioners.Asurveywasconductedamong
150professionalsinthefieldofcross-bordere-commerceinChina,
coveringtheircurrentjobroles,Englishproficiency,andthe
relevanceofEnglishskillstotheirwork.Theresultsshowthatthe
vastmajorityofrespondentsuseEnglishintheirdailywork,and
thelevelofproficiencyispositivelycorrelatedwithjobposition
andeducationlevel.However,somerespondentsstillface
challengesinusingEnglisheffectivelyintheirwork,which
suggestsaneedforfurthertraininginEnglishlanguageskills.

cross-bordere-commercehasbecomeanincreasinglyimportant
channelforcompaniestoaccessglobalmarkets.Theglobalmarket
sizeofcross-bordere-commercewasestimatedtobeover1trillion
dollarsin2020,andisexpectedtocontinuegrowingatarapid
pace(EconomistIntelligenceUnit,2020).Asaresult,moreand
moreprofessionalsareworkinginthefieldofcross-bordere-
commerce,includingthoseinsales,marketing,logistics,and
customerservice.
However,ascross-bordere-commerceisaglobalizedindustry,
Englishproficiencyandapplicationskillshavebecomecritical
competenciesforprofessionalsworkinginthisfield.Englishisthe
dominantlanguageofinternationalcommunicationandcommerce,
anditisessentialforcross-bordere-commerceprofessionalstobe
abletocommunicateeffectivelywithbusinesspartnersand
