theCentralUniversityinNanjing.Soon,theKMTgovernmentfirst

agreedonJune6fortheteachers,thenteachers”daychangedto

August27(birthdayofConfucius).

After1949,theCentralPeople”sgovernmentresumedJune6for

teachers,theMinistryofEducationgaveacircularthatlocal

educationworkers,accordingtotheactualsituationtoorganize

theircelebrationactivities.

In1951NationalEducationtradeunions,educatorsare

recognizedaspartoftheworkingclass.OnApril19,1951,Minister

ofEducationandtheChineseEducationunionChairmanofthe

NationalCommitteeissuedawrittenstatementthatMay1

InternationalLaborDaywasatthesametimecelebratedasteachers”

day.Butthisdaylacksteachers”professionandtheresultswere

notideal.Especiallyafter1957,undertheinfluenceofthe
