【Abstract】ObjectiveToanalzetheclinicalmanifestationsof(moamoadisease,MMD)since

transcranialDoppler(TCD)isavailabletobeascreenmethodfordiagnosingtheintracranialarterstenosis

inChinese.MethodsTotall54MMDpatientsinPekingUnionMedicalCollegeHospitalduring1992to

2004wereenrolledinthisstud.Ofthem,35(65%)patientswerediagnosedbusingDSAand19

(35%)usingMRA.ResultsTherewerewtoagepeaks,onearound10earsoldandtheotheraround40

earsold.19(35%)ofpatientswerelessthan25earsold,withamedianof9earsoldand35(65%)

ofpatientsweremorethan25earsold,withamedianof39earsold.Among54MMDpatients,cerebral

ischemiaoccurredin39(72%)andwasshownasthecommonestinitialclinicalmanifestation.The

frequencofcerebralischemiawere87%intheagegroupoflessthan16earsold(13/15patients);55%

in16—30earsoldgroup(6/11patients)and71%inthemorethan30earsoldgroup(20/28patients).
