whobecametheprimarytradersofteabetweenEuropeandAsiainthe17thcentury．The

mainDutchportsineastAsiawereinFujianandTaiwan,China．Peopleofbothplaces

usedthe“te”pronunciation．TheDutchEastIndiaCompanysexpansivetea

importationintoEuropegaveustheFrench“thé”，theGerman“Tee”，andthe

English“tea”．
