设计意图

TheWarmingUpisintendedtohelpstudentsknowaboutvariouseventsandfestivalshomeandabroad,andconnectthemwiththetimetheytakeplaceandactivitiespeopledo.Thispartisintendedtoarousestudents’interestandtheawarenessoflearningabouttheircountry’sculturalevents.

ThePre-readingisacontinuationoftheWarmingUpanditisintendedtohelpstudentslearntopredictthepassage.TheReadingbrieflyintroducestheancientfestivalsandmodernfestivalswiththereasonsforthemandthenfourdifferentkindsoffestivalsthatoccurinmostpartsoftheworld.Encouragestudentstolookatthepicturesandtheheadingofeachsectiontoguesswhatthetextmightbeabout.Thenletthemskimforthegeneralideaforeachsection,andscanforfurtherunderstanding.

Afterreading,studentsarerequiredtodesignaposteringroupsabouttwofestivals.ThissectionisintendedtohelpstudentsexpressopinionsinEnglishandworkimaginativelyandtoputwhattheyhavelearnedintopractice.
