【摘要】Thisexperimentwasconductedtoinvestigatetheeffectsof
dietarysupplementationofdifferentlev-elsofβ-caroteneonperformance,
antioxidantfunction,bloodphysiologicalindicesandmeatqualityofbeef
cattle.OnehundredandtwentyhealthySimmentalcrossbredbullockswith
similarweightof(381.00±26.01)kgwererandomlydividedintofour
groupswith30bullocksineachgroup.Beefcattleincontrolgroupwere
fedabasaldiet,andthoseinexperimentalgroupswerefedthebasaldiet
supplementedwith600,1200and1800mg/dβ-carotene,respectively,
during10daysofpre-experimentand90daysofformalexperiment.The
resultsshowedasfollows:1)nosignificantdifferencesinfinalweight,
averagedailygainanddrymatterintakewerefoundinbeefcattlereceived
differentdietarysupplementallevelsofβ-carotene(P0.05).2)Compared
withcontrolgroup,serumglutathione(GSH)contentandtotalsuperoxide
dismutase(T-SOD)activityin1200mg/dβ-caroteneexperimentalgroup
weresignificantlyincreased(P0.05),however,serummalondialdehyde
(MDA)contentwassignificantlydecreased(P0.05);serumtotal
antioxidantcapacity(T-AOC)in1800mg/dβ-caroteneexperimental
groupwassignificantlyincreased(P0.05).Significantlinearandquadratic
changeswerefoundinserumT-AOC,GSHcontent,T-SODactivityand
MDAcontentwiththeincreaseofdietaryβ-carotenesupplementallevel
(P0.05).3)Comparedwithcontrolgroup,bloodmiddlecell(MID)count
andpercentagein600mg/dβ-caroteneexperimentalgroupwere
significantlyde-creased(P0.05),whilebloodneutrophilegranulocyte
(GRAN)percentagewassignificantlyincreasedin1800mg/dβ-carotene
experimentalgroup(P0.05);withtheincreaseofdietaryβ-carotene
supplementallevel,significantlinearandquadraticchangeswerefoundin
