Alexwasamemberoftheschool‘volunteerclub.Hequicklycalledtheclubleader,explainedthesituation,andaskedforagreementtohelp.Theyquicklyputonworkclothes,askedthemanagementteamiftheyhadenoughtools,andgotapositiveanswer.Theyrodetheirbikes,withgloves,tothepark.

Whentheyarrived,theysawthepark’smanagementteam,includingMrThompsonandseveralotherworkers,workinghardtoclearthefallentrees.

Alexwalkedupandgreetedthemwarmly,“Goodmorning,everyone,we’reheretohelp!”

TheparkmanagerMrThompsonsmiled,“Youcame.That’sgreat!Theworkhereistoomuch,andwedon’thaveenoughpeople.”

Everyoneworkedtogether.Somecutthebigtreesintosmallerpieces,whileothersmovedthemtoapile(堆).Theyalsousedbrooms(扫帚)andgarbagebagstocleanupleaves.Althoughtheworkwashard,theyencouragedeachother,andtheworkwentquickly.

Whilecleaning,theyfoundafrightenedlittlebird.Thebird‘wingseemedhurt,anditcouldn’tfly.Alexgentlyheldthebirdinhishandandsaidtohisfriendbake,“Weneedtohelpit.”

Theymadeatemporarynest(临时的鸟窝)forthebirdwithleavesandsoftgrassandplaceditinabateplace.Theycontactedthelocalanimalrescueorganizationanddescribedthebird’ssituationtotheworker.
