FollowmeHigh-voltageequipmentinsulationdefectsaremainlyclassifiedintotwotypes:centralizeddefectsanddistributeddefects.Centralizeddefectsrefertospecificissuessuchasmoistureingress,mechanicaldamage,insulationinternalbubbles,andporcelaininsulatorrupture,whichposesignificantsafetyrisks.Distributeddefectspertaintooverallinsulationperformancedegradationresultingfrommoistureingress,overheating,andprolongedoverload.Itisacommonformofinsulationdeteriorationthatprogressesslowlyandcanbedetectedthroughperiodictesting.

FollowmeThepurposeofhigh-voltagetestingistoanalyzeandevaluatevariousperformanceaspectsbasedontestresults,eliminateandpreventlatentdefects,promptlyidentifyandaddressequipmentaginganddegradationissues,andenhanceequipmentreliabilityduringoperation.High-voltagetestingcanbedividedintoinsulationtestingandcharacteristictesting,dependingonthenatureofthetestitems.Insulationtestinginvolvesinspectionsofelectricalequipmentinsulationcondition,includingexternalinsulationinspection,insulationconditiondatatesting,andwithstandvoltagetests.Characteristictesting,ontheotherhand,referstoelectricaltestsconductedbeyondinsulationtesting.Itsobjectiveistoverifywhetherthetechnicalcharacteristicsofelectricalequipmentmeettherequirementsspecifiedinrelevanttechnicalregulations,ensuringnormaloperation.Transformers,instrumenttransformers,circuitbreakers,lightingarresters,andsimilarelectricalequipmentrequirebothinsulationtestingandcharacteristictesting.Insulators,powercables,andsimilarequipmenttypicallyundergoonlyinsulationtestingwithoutcharacteristictesting.
