HarddiskandHSC-operationspeedmaybeincreasedwithWindowsSystemtools(ScanDskw.exeandDefrag.exe)andespeciallywithDiskeeper?-software.
7.2 Installation
HSCisinstalledinthesamewayasmostotherWindowsprograms:
LogontothecomputerwithAdministratorprivileges.
ItisnotnecessarytoremovetheoldHSC1.0-5.1versionsifyouwanttoupgradetoHSC6.0.Thesecanstillbeusedifthenew6.0isinstalledinadifferentdirectory.However,alloldHSC5.x(beta)versionsmustbeuninstalledbeforenewHSC6installationwithWindowsControlPanelAdd/RemoveProgramsDialog.
CloseallotherWindowsprograms,butnotWindowsitself.Notethatyoumustalsoclose,forexample,theMSOfficeiconbar,becauseithasloadedsomeprogramstothememory.OtherwisetheHSCinstallationprogramcannotupgradethoselibrarieswhichareinuse.Youcanpress“Ctrl,Alt,Delete”toviewandclosealltherunningprograms.Donot,however,closeEXPLORERandSYSTRAYunderWindows98.
