Numbers to Make a

100s Chart

Large visual references in the classroom lead to lots of reinforcement

through the day ~ if they are ulised well. This skip counng by 5s and 10s

wall chart is a favourite of mine as the kids really take ownership of it,

since they help make it, and they tend to monitor their own learning

progress as they master skip counng over the Kinder year. And it

couldnt be easier.

How to Make this Skip Counng Chart

1. Paint your kids hands (preferably one at a me) and make hand prints

on white paper. I use mulple colours and when making the chart change

colours for every 10 grouping.

2. Cut out the hand prints and mount them on black card.

3. Lay them out evenly on long butcher paper. I have 2 charts because

they are very long and this keeps both charts at a good eye level (that is,

not going too low to the floor where theyd be blocked by desks etc)

4. Add the numbers. I make my 10s

circles and my 5s square and put them

on either side of the hand prints so

theres no confusion. It would also be

nice to have children make the

numbers and sign their hand print. I

use large printed numbers so theyre

clearly visible right across the room.

And youre done!
