SiberiantigersareanimalsthatusuallyliveinforestsinRussiaandChina.Theyarestrong,beautifulanimals,andtheyarealsobig.Manymalesarearound250kginweight,whilefemaleSiberiantigersweigharound170kgonaverage.Thesetigersliketoeatanimalssuchaselkandwildboar,oftenhuntingatnightandtravellingmanymiles.Theyarepowerfulhunters,butthereareonlyabout500leftintheworld.

Thereareseveralreasonsforthis.First,somepeoplehuntthetigersforfoodormedicine.Second,toomanytreesarecutdown,whichdestroystheirnaturalhabitatsandhuntingareas.Alotoftheirpreylikestoliveintheforest.Whentheforestiscutdown,thetiger’spreyisgoneandsotheygethungryandweak.

That’sthebadnews,butthereisgoodnews.PeoplearoundtheworldwanttohelpSiberiantigers.Forexample,acrossbothJilinandHeilongjiangprovincesinChina,theNortheastChinaTigerandLeopardNationalParkhelpsprotectthem.Therearecamerasallaroundtheforest.Scientistsandotherpeoplecanwatchthetigers,andmakesuretheyaresafe.Withthecameras,thescientistscanalsowatchwherethetigers’youngcubsarekeptbytheirmothers.Parkrangershelptoo.Theyprotectanimalsinthepark.Onewaytheycandothisistokeepotherpeopleawayfromtheplaceswiththeyoungcubs.Thismeansthetigers’cubscangrowupsafelywiththeirmothers.Thankstothis,thenumberoftigersisgettinglargerandlarger!

Therangersalsoteachothersaboutwhythetigersandforestsareimportant.Assuch,morepeoplewanttoprotecttheforestsandavoidcuttingdowntoomanytrees.Withmoretrees,thetigersandtheirbabieshavemoreplacesfortheirhomes.Theyalsohavemorefood.Therangersaredoinggreatthings.Byprotectingthemandhelpingtoteachusaboutthem,weseehow
