MarkTwainwrotenovels\[principally“TheGildedAge”（1873），“TheAdventuresofTomSawyer”(1876),“ThePrinceandthePauper”(1881)，“AdventuresofHuckleberryFinn”(1884)，“AConnecticutYankeeinKingArthur’sCourt”(1889)and“TheTragedyofPudd’sheadWilson”(1894）\]shortstories,speeches,andessays。Healsowrotesomeautobiographicalworks，including“TheInnocentsAbroad（1869）,“ATrampAbroad”（1880),“LifeontheMississippi(1883）,and“MarkTwain’sAutobiography”。

MarkTwain’sBiography：

MarkTwain(SamuelLanghorneClemens)isoneofthemostfamouswritersinAmericanliterature。Hewenttoworkin1847whenhisfatherdied，startingoffasanapprenticetoaprinter，writingforhisbrother’snewspaper,andthenworkingasariverboatpilot（1857-1861).

TheworkthatfirstbroughtTwainliteraryacclaimwas“JimSmileyandHisJumpingFrog（alsoknownas“TheCelebratedJumpingFrogofCalaverasCounty”)in1865。Also，asajournalistduringthoseearlyliterarydays,TwaintraveledtotheSandwichIslands，EuropeandtheMiddleEastin1867.Heshapedhistraveladventuresintoseveralbooks：“TheInnocentsAbroad(1869)and“RoughingIt”（1872)，whichdepictedWestCoasttravels.
