编码通过避免使用可能会引起误解和冲突的隐喻意象来维持积极正面的国家形

象，同时呈现出灵活包容开放的国家形象。本研究期望为积极隐喻分析视角下隐

喻翻译和国家形象建构提供新的研究思路。

Thefindingsrevealthatarichvarietyofconceptualmetaphorshavebeenused,

amongwhichJourneyMetaphor,ConstructionMetaphorandBodyMetaphorappear

themostfrequently.Englishtranslationsofsignedarticlesmainlyadoptthreekindsof

secondaryencodingmodesformetaphortranslation:equivalentencodingmode,

substitutiveencodingmodeanddeletedencodingmode.Equivalentencodingmode

usesliteraltranslationofthesourcedomainandamplificationofthesourcedomain;

substitutiveencodingmodeusesthereplacementofthesourcedomain;deleted

encodingmodecontainstheuseofomissionandmanifestationofthetargetdomain.

Adoptingequivalentencodingmodecanmaximizetheoriginalflavorofmetaphor,

minimizethecompromiseincross-linguisticandcross-culturalcommunication,and

contributetotheauthenticityofnationalimages.Substitutiveencodingmodecan

maximizetheclosenesstotheaudience’slanguagehabits,reducemisinterpretationand

accuratelyconveynationalimages.While,deletedencodingmoderequirestranslators

toavoidtheuseofimagerythatwillcausemisunderstandingandconflictsothatitcan

maintainapositivenationalimage,andpresentaflexible,tolerantandopennational

image.Thisstudyaimstooffernewresearchinsightsformetaphortranslationand

nationalimageconstructionfromtheperspectiveofPositiveMetaphorAnalysis.
