ThisStandarddefinesrequirementsforCr(VI)-freezincalloycoatingsappliedtoferrousmaterials

bymeansofthermaldiffusion.ThemethodisdescribedinsectionA.1.

Thesilvergraycoatingsareusedasheavy-dutycorrosionprotection(protectionclass6)forcom-

ponentsthatareexpectedtobeexposedtotemperaturesofupto300°C(e.g.,intheenginecom-

partmentorintheareaofthebrakeandexhaustsystems)inadditiontoanincreasedcorrosion

load.Sincethiscoatingprocessdoesnotcarrytheriskofhydrogenembrittlement,thiscorrosion

protectioncanalsobeusedforhardenedandhigh-strengthsteelpar
